Qualification :
MD (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), MRCOG

Dr. Anupama is a pioneer in the field of Robotic Surgery in gynaecologic cancers.

Dr. Anupama did her basic medical training at Govt. Medical College, Kottayam, Kerala from where she passed with a university rank. She completed her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Govt. Stanley Medical College, Chennai. She did her training in minimally invasive gynaecological surgeries from Paul's Hospital under Dr. P.G. Paul.

In March 2009, Dr. Anupama joined the Department of Surgical and Gynaecologic Oncology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and, after her two-year training period, she joined as an Assistant Professor in the same department. In 2012, she underwent training in Robotic Surgery at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Anupama introduced the Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery Programme in the Department of Gynaecologic Oncology in February 2015. She was the first in India to use robotic-assisted sentinel lymph node mapping for endometrial cancer. With the integration of these technologies, now, she is able to offer surgical procedures with shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time for gynaecological cancer patients. Till March 2017, she has done over 225 robotic procedures without a single conversion to laparotomy. She is also the first gynaecologist in India to complete 200 robotic surgeries.

She also has strong interest in clinical, research and is currently involved in molecular research in ovarian cancer. She has won several awards for her work both in the national and international forums.

She has published more than 30 journal publications and has authored several book chapters.
